JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WDRB) -- The owner of the former Cluckers site along the Ohio River in Jeffersonville plans to rebuild months after a fire destroyed the restaurant.
Maggie Moore with Riverside Properties said she's working with architects and builders to develop a new 10,000-square-foot building on the site, as reported by our partners at Louisville Business First.
The property at 100 W. Riverside Drive was heavily damaged in a Dec. 30, 2025, fire that led to the building's collapse. According to previous reports, a trash fire spread to the structure, and wind conditions complicated firefighters' efforts, Deputy Fire Chief Mike McCutcheon said at the time.
Plans call for a two-story structure featuring a 5,000-square-foot restaurant on the ground floor with apartment units above. Moore estimates the project will cost about $3 million and hopes to break ground by late summer. Demolition of the fire-damaged site is already underway.
"Cluckers gets first dibs no matter what," Moore said, noting the restaurant has expressed interest in returning. Lease negotiations are still ongoing.
Moore is partnering with Scott Koots of Koots Construction and architect Paul Torp on the project. Because the property sits within Jeffersonville's historic district, the redevelopment must be approved by the city's historic preservation board.
The site has been in Moore's family since her father, Chuck Moore, bought it in 2000 and built Jimmy's on the River there. Before that, the downtown parcel was home to the Trolley Inn, an 18-seat diner inside a real trolley car that closed in 1988.
