LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The building that was once home to HopCat, Bakersfield and The Wiggle Room in Louisville's Highlands neighborhood is up for auction.
According to our partners at Louisville Business First, the auction is being handled by The Menish Group, which said there has been tremendous interest in the property on Bardstown Road.
"A lot of people have been sitting on the sidelines watching (the property). ... And as soon as we go to auction, it kind of kicks up the game. So our phone has been ringing off the hook," said Bill Menish, owner and managing director of The Menish Group. "That building is incredibly well suited for so many different things."
While the building has been used as a restaurant and bar since early 2020, the company said the 17,000-square-foot building could be used for retail, office space or even multi-family housing.
Bidding for the space is already open. It'll sell to the highest bidder, at or above $1.95 million. Bidding closes Aug. 26.
This comes a year after the building was put on the market for $2.75 million after Bakersfield, a new-to-market taco chain, closed in 2024 less than a year after it opened.
Bakersfield took over the space formerly occupied by HopCat, which went bankrupt in 2020. The Wiggle Room took over after HopCat, but closed in August 2022.
