LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Gas prices continue to soar across the country, and the Louisville area is no exception.

The highest prices in the area are as high as $4.39, but prices are as low as $3.78.

The average price across the country is $4.14, meaning most gas stations in the Louisville area are above the national average.

"It's hard to get to work and back and they keep going up," a Bullitt County driver said. "I don't know what to do about it, maybe I'll have to get a horse and buggy, go back to the good ol’ days."

"Does hurt a little bit, gotta take out a little extra coin to get your gas, definitely feeling it, hopefully it doesn't go any higher," local driver Arjun Gutierrez said.

Gas right off Interstate 65 heading to Shepherdsville was 41 cents more expensive compared to seven minutes down the road at Walmart.

The most common price in the area was $4.19.

"They're ridiculous, they keep going up and it just keeps costing more and more to live on," local driver Don Fritts said. "There's nothing I can do about it, so you just deal with what you get and gotta go do it."

The best advice is to avoid gas stations right off the interstate and use apps like GasBuddy to find the cheapest gas near you.
