LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- There's a new sport for people to play in Louisville.

Goodbounce Pickleball Yard on River Road opened on Saturday three PATL courts. Pronounced like "paddle," the sport combines elements of tennis, squash and badminton.

Andrew Herring, a Kentucky native and co-founder of PATL, brought the sport back to his home state.

"The traction and why it has grown so fast globally I think will catch on really quickly here," Herring said. "People in Louisville love a new thing they can get hooked on and I think this will fit that mold for them."

On Saturday, a launch event was held featuring exhibition matches, a brief overview of the sport and a festive atmosphere.

It is the second location for PATL, with the first site being in the Chamblee area of Atlanta.
