LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A former Disco ball factory in Louisville's Highlands has been transformed into a new boutique hotel, but it's also keeping its history front and center.
"I had this idea of a Highlands Hotel that was desperately needed then and even more so now," said Craig Pishotti, co-founder of Common Bond Hotel Collection.
After four years of planning, design, and construction, the Myriad Hotel opened its doors along Baxter Avenue.
A myriad reflector was what disco balls were originally called, so the name of the hotel is a nod to the history of the building.
"They would grind the glass to make the mirror balls. That sucked the dust into those towers, and we thought what a perfect thing to keep as far as industrial sculpture," said Pishotti.

There is a heated saltwater pool outside the hotel that is now a swim club that will be open-year round – surrounded by day beds.
Design elements of the hotel are inspired by the unique history of the building with a 70s retro vibe and even a few disco balls hanging from the ceiling. If you look closely, there's a "party button" in the elevator that transforms it into a disco with music and dancing lights.
The hotel is meant to be a mix of Palm Springs and Miami while still keeping its Bluegrass roots. All the art in the hotel was done by local artists
In the lobby, Switchboard is a café with light bites, coffees and a full bar that changes in a cocktail lounge at night.
The hotel restaurant Paseo opened a couple months ago and features dishes from around the Mediterranean.

There are 15 different floor plans for the 65 rooms in the hotel. The bunk room has two bathrooms, two showers and a bunch of bunks, which is perfect for a bachelor or bachelorette party. It sleeps ten.
Rooms start at $199 a night and have been booking quickly – well before the hotel was even completed.
"We opened last Thursday, and we are sold out this Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, which is incredible," Bishotti said.
The Myriad is one of two boutique hotels in the Highlands. It's located at the entrance of the Baxter Avenue Corridor heading onto Bardstown Road.
District 8 Metro Councilman Ben Reno-Weber (D) said it's a welcome addition. "This being a place that is attractive to people coming from outside, tourists looking for something else but also really helping build community locally. That's exciting."
In an industry where location and convenience is key, The Myriad is hoping to be a reflection of that.
"The Highlands being very walkable it just made a lot of sense to lean into that and to give local Louisvillians a little vacation without having to leave home," Bishotti said. "I just can’t wait to see what happens through the fall here and into next year."
The Myriad Hotel is located at 900 Baxter Avenue in Louisville, Kentucky.
