NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WDRB) -- After nearly 80 years, a historic New Albany bakery will close its doors for good.
Honey Creme Donuts announced the permanent closure of the shop since opening in the mid-1940s. The final day of operation will be March 3.
"We are grateful for the generations of support, from the early morning regulars to the families who made us part of their traditions," the bakery said in a social media post.
The owners were originally looking to auction off the business with a starting bid of $750,000, but the future plans of the property are unknown at this time.
"I just want to be able to live my life the way I want to and not 3 o'clock in the morning, when every day starts up and I am down here making them," owners Jason Van Horn and his wife told WDRB in September 2024. "I just want to be able to enjoy life. It is not going to get any easier as I get older."
