LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A southern Indiana restaurant has entered a new era of honoring its German heritage.Â
Schnitzelbank unveiled a brand new Glockenspiel clock tower Friday morning.Â
"The original Glockenspiel stood as a beloved icon for many years," the restaurant said in a Facebook post. "While it served us well, the time had come for something new, something bigger, more animated, and filled with music and charm."
It took three years for crews to complete the new tower, which includes bells and animated characters, as well as updated programming capabilities.Â
The restaurant said the new tower combines old world charm with modern flair as a tribute to its German heritage and the vibrancy of Jasper.
Schnitzelbank celebrated the German tribute with family, friends, employees and special guests.
The restaurant has been serving the Jasper community since 1961, offering traditional German food like schnitzel, bratwurst and pretzels.
