LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A New Albany landmark is about to get a major upgrade.
The Culbertson Mansion has raised nearly $1 million and will fully restore the site's cast iron. This is according to a news release issued on Tuesday.
The restoration will include work on the mansion's fence, walkways, exterior porches and limestone retaining walls, in addition to other features.
“It’s an indicator of a historical district,” said Jessica Stavros, state historic sites development director. “It is also serves as an identifier for the Culbertson Mansion. This project shows its importance through the collaboration across the state of Indiana. It is important for the people of New Albany to know there are organizations willing to fund this mission and this community.”
The restoration project is expected to start in the fall.
There are plans for additional fundraising to complete the final phase of the project.
