LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Publix will open another supermarket in Louisville, according to our partners at Louisville Business First

The chain opened its first supermarket in Kentucky at 2500 Terra Crossing Boulevard in Jan. 2024. Publix signed a lease for a store at 201 Blankenbaker Parkway near Middletown, a space previously occupied by Walmart Neighborhood Market.

The site was originally a Winn-Dixie, and then Walmart Neighborhood Market moved in, but closed in 2018. The space has been vacant ever since.

The store will be 50,325 square feet and employ about 140 people. Publix hasn't announced an open date.

Two other Publix are being planned in eastern Jefferson County at Flat Rock Road and Shelbyville Road, along with another location at Ballardsville Road and Brownsboro Road.
