LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Shippingport Brewing Company in Louisville's Portland neighborhood will close its doors after nearly five years in business.
The brewery and restaurant announced the news Friday on social media. It opened in June 2021 on West Main Street, according to our partners at Louisville Business First.
"We are filled with gratitude for every single person who helped build our atmosphere, community and the literal space we've called home for almost five years," the brewery said in a statement.
Shippingport thanked friends, neighbors and champions of the business, but said the industry and the economy posed significant challenges over the past two years.
"Unfortunately, our industry and the economy have posed significant and compounding challenges to us in the past two years that have become insurmountable," the statement read. "It's certainly not for lack of love or tenacity that we come to this decision."
The brewery hosted several events over the years, including weddings, birthdays, live music, drag shows and trivia.
Shippingport's last day is Saturday, Feb. 28.
