LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A new hotel is planned for one of Louisville's fast-growing neighborhoods.
A permit filed with Louisville Metro Planning and Design shows developers are planning to built a Marriott TownePlace Suites at 901 E. Jefferson St.in NuLu, our partners at Louisville Business First reported Friday.
The four-story hotel will have 128 rooms on 1.05 acres, costing $12 million to build. As part of the development, developer Mo Deljoo and his partners will preserve and renovate a historic home on Jefferson Street.
The new hotel is in the final planning stages with groundbreaking in late April.
Deljoo is also the developer of NuLu Marketplace and NuLu Marketplace North, which is currently under construction at 808-814 E. Main St.
"We've been planning a hotel in NuLu for a while," Deljoo told Business First last year. "We originally were looking at the site where now we are doing phase II of NuLu Marketplace, but we decided when we saw this site it would be a better fit for the hotel."
The announcement of the new NuLu hotel adds to the series of new hotels planned for Louisville.
In January, a 418-room, 26-story luxury hotel was announced for the 401 S. 4th St. Tower, formerly the Brown & Williamson Tower.
In addition, the proposed $700 million renovation of Humana Tower into a 1,000-room convention center hotel was announced late last year.
