JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WDRB) -- A southern Indiana strip mall is getting a makeover the developer hopes will bring it back to life.

Renovations are underway at the Youngstown Shopping Center on 10th Street in downtown Jeffersonville.

WDRB's partners at Business First report the strip mall is being remodeled, and the developer is working to lease the space at 1439 E. 10th St., which is about 40% vacant.

The update comes after Legacy Commercial Property purchased the property in 2024. The company is using Miranda Construction as its general contractor, and its architecture team is from LMH+MAR Architecture.

The shopping space now has a new name: the Legacy Shoppes at Jeffersonville.

Plans call for rebuilding an old overhang to add height to the building while a new roof is installed. New signage, paint and other materials will be added to the updated facade.

The parking lot will also be replaced, and new lighting and landscaping will be added.

Existing tenants in the shopping center include Dollar Tree, Save A Lot, Oak Street Health, Taco Bell and Sherwin-Williams.

The full-scale remodel should take about seven months.
