LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The city of Louisville joined forces with several partner agencies Friday for a coordinated cleanup in the Jacobs neighborhood.
Louisville Metro Police, Metro Public Works, the Metropolitan Sewer District, the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health & Wellness and Brightside teamed up for a first-of-its-kind cleanup effort. The project was focused on Powell, Craig and Wheeler avenues in west Louisville.
"This was sort of a special initiative to test out collaboration and see how it goes with all the agencies coming together at once," said Karen Maynard, solid waste education manager for MSD.
Crews worked on street sweeping, catch basin clearing, litter pickup and even West Nile Virus prevention. The city said in a news release this week the new initiative aims to bring city agencies together to collaborate, helping keep Louisville a "safer, cleaner, healthier place to live and work."
