LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A community meeting was held to discuss safety solutions for an area of Cherokee Park on Sunday.

Last summer, the area around Big Rock in Cherokee Park dealt with parking congestion and concerns for pedestrians and cyclists, according to community organizers.

The limestone rock that sits in Beargrass Creek has been a destination for parkgoers for decades. There is a pavilion and playground at the area.

People who live around the park want to promote a safer and more respectful environment. Some issues that were discussed included parking, illegal grilling and sharing the roads.

"What we want to do is ahead of this summer season to take some time to problem solve together with the community, with the parks with Olmsted with LMPD about how we are ready for this year," Louisville Metro Councilman Ben Reno-Weber (D-8) said.

The meeting was held at the Louisville Seminary.
