LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A one-stop shop for community resources is now open in Hillview.

Leaders cut the ribbon on the center Tuesday afternoon. It's attached to the new Hillview Police Department headquarters.

Both the center and the police headquarters were dedicated by city leaders Tuesday afternoon.

Hillview officials said police often encounter people who need social service help, so bringing the new center on site with the police headquarters was a longtime goal.

The center will offer counseling, domestic violence support, a food pantry, second chance job training and disability assistance all in one place.

"Just Monday morning, this Monday, there was a guy sleeping right here, homeless. I got him up, got him in the police department, and got him in a Isaiah House," Hillview Mayor Jim Eadens said. "That's what we want it to be about. We want people to have the resources to be able to get help."

The new police department and resource center are located on Hillview Boulevard, in a renovated area of an old shopping center.

Officers started moving into the new police headquarters back in March of this year.
