LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Around 60 shots were fired outside a Shively nightclub earlier this month when a man was killed in what police describe as an "ambush-style" killing.
Sgt. Jordan Brown with the Shively Police Department said officers responded to the shooting outside Club 7 in the 2800 block of 7th Street Road around 3:20 a.m. When they arrived, they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. A man, believed to be in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Another man, believed to be in his 30s, was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.Â
The Jefferson County Coroner's Office later identified the victim as 26-year-old Rodney Parker.
Investigators said the shooting outside the night club was coordinated. During a news conference Friday, policed played audio of the gunfire.
"This is what the last moments of his life sounded like," Brown said as he played the audio.
On Wednesday, in coordination with the ATF and FBI, Shively and Louisville Metro Police officers conducted five search warrants on several locations. Five people were arrested and charged in connection to Parker's death:
- Keasia Tyson, 27
- Murder (complicity)
- Assault 2nd (complicity)

In court Thursday morning, a judge set Guthrie's bond at $1 million, saying his charges were the most serious of the group.
Three of the suspects have a history of violent offenses.
Rox pleaded guilty to a murder in 2020, Birdsong is facing a manslaughter charge from 2022 and Guthrie was convicted of manslaughter for a 2021 shooting.
All three were out of jail when the shooting occurred in Shively.
Police seized 14 guns, including handguns, AR pistols, an AK pistol and a Glock switch. They also seized a trafficking amount of fentanyl powder and pills, along with a few pounds of marijuana.
While it's not clear if the Glock switch handgun was used in this shooting, police used the opportunity to emphasize the effort to ban machine gun conversion devices, which is advancing through Kentucky's legislature this session.
House Bill 299, sponsored by Rep. Jason Nemes, R-Louisville, would make possession of a machine gun conversion device a felony under state law. They easily transform semi-automatic handguns into machine guns.
Brown said the case is still being investigated.
