LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A child died and two adults were injured after a car crash in south Louisville Saturday night.

John Bradley, a spokesman for the Louisville Metro Police Department, said two cars, a white van and an SUV, crashed into each other. It happened just after 8:30 p.m. near the 8000 block of Smyrna Parkway.

All three people were taken to UofL Hospital. The child, who LMPD estimated to be around 10 years old, died at the hospital. The two adults involved in the crash remain in critical condition.

No charges have been made so far.

LMPD's Traffic Unit is investigating the cause of the crash. The road has since reopened.
