LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man suspected of three local bank robberies is now in custody, after a flood of tips on social media helped Louisville Metro Police track him down.

LMPD asked the public for help to identify the man on its Facebook page in early May after he allegedly robbed the Republic Bank at 5125 New Cut Road, across the street from Iroquois Park.

The bank teller "perceived the suspect was armed with a weapon due to this body language around his waistband, according to court documents.

According to the most recent post on the page, the suspect -- identified as Joseph Hines -- is in custody. Police said he robbed two other banks after the May 5 robbery.

Hines was arrested June 5, after another bank robbery.

LMPD said in the post that it received at least 50 tips after its original post, and thanked the public for the solid information in an updated post.

"Y'all had him ID'd fairly quickly and we just needed to do our part. His little crime spree is over, thanks to you."

According to court documents, Hines is accused of robbing the L&N bank at 4700 Southern Parkway on May 21, and again on June 5. Police said Hines presented a demand note in each of the robberies. Police said at least one of the notes said "This is NOT a joke!"

Shortly after the L&N robbery on June 5, detectives were conducting surveillance on a vehicle belonging to one of Hines' family members. A traffic stop was conducted and Hines was found in the passenger seat and booked into Louisville Metro Corrections.

Hines, 42, pleaded not guilty to three counts of first degree robbery in arraignment court Friday. The judge set his bond at $100,000 cash and ordered a public defender appointment on his behalf.

Hines next court appearance is scheduled for June 16.
