LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two copper wire thieves were arrested in Louisville after being caught in the act.

Jacob Roeder and David McGill are accused of targeting wiring in the city's Riverport area, according to Louisville Metro Police.

A joint investigation by Metro Alcoholic Beverage Control and LMPD's Third Division led to their arrests. Both men now face several charges.

The bust is a result of the city's new Critical Infrastructure Task Force aimed at cutting down on costly copper wire theft around the city.

Those crimes are leaving many areas of Louisville disconnected or in the dark, and have led to millions of dollars in repairs.
