LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two men were taken to the hospital after being shot in the Newburg neighborhood Sunday evening, according to Louisville Metro Police.
Matthew Sanders, a spokesman for LMPD, said officers were called to the 4800 block of Brenda Drive to investigate a shooting at 5:45 p.m.
Police then learned the victim returned home on Red Fern Road. The man had a gunshot wound to the leg and was taken to UofL Hospital. Police said he's expected to survive and the Non-Fatal Shooting Squad is investigating.
Sanders said about 20 minutes after officers were dispatched to Brenda Drive, police then received a call about a shooting in the 5400 of Ripple Lane. Police found another man with a gunshot wound to the leg.
The victim said he was in an altercation with "another known male" and a gun fell onto the ground and when the victim was retrieving it, he shot himself in the leg.
He then returned home and reported the incident. He was taken to UofL Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police are unsure at this time if the two incidents are related but they aren't ruling it out.
