LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) — A second victim died after a drunk driver crashed into a TARC bus stop Monday evening in Shively, police said.
The Shively Police Department said officers responded to an injury collision involving two vehicles around 7:56 p.m. at the intersection of Rockford Lane and Dixie Highway.
When officers arrived, they found a woman, identified as 43-year-old Danielle Cordes, dead at the scene. Two women were also taken to the hospital with critical and life-threatening injuries.
Shively Police Sgt. Jordan Brown confirmed Wednesday that the woman who was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries had died as a result of the collision.
Two people at or near the bus stop at the time of the crash suffered minor injuries, police said.
Kevin D. Moore, 45, was arrested and charged with DUI and murder as a result of the crash.
Two passengers in one of the vehicles involved told police they weren't driving at the time of the crash, pointing to Moore as the driver. Police said Moore, who was sitting on the curb, told officers the accident "was not his fault even though he was drunk due to him consuming alcoholic beverages."
Police said Moore told them he had been drinking tequila an hour before the crash.
According to an arrest citation, Moore was charged with murder, disregarding a traffic light, criminal mischief, two counts of assault, two counts of wanton endangerment, two counts of assault with minor injury, DUI and reckless driving.
In court for his arraignment Wednesday morning, Moore pleaded not guilty and a judge set his bond at $1 million. His next court appearance is scheduled for June 4.
The investigation remains ongoing.
