LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Five juveniles and two adults were injured in a shooting at an event venue near the Pleasure Ridge Park early Sunday morning, according to Louisville Metro Police.

Dwight Mitchell, a spokesman for LMPD, said officers responded to a reported shooting in the 7000 block of Raggard Road just before 1:30 a.m. That's at a strip mall off Greenbelt Highway.

Police initially said six juveniles were injured from an "exchange of gunfire" in the parking lot of Prestige By Luxe, where a party was happening, but later updated that number to seven, including two adults. Mitchell said all victims were taken to UofL Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

LMPD's Non-Fatal Shooting Unit is investigating and there are no suspects at this time.

The parking lot where the shooting took place still had remnants of the incident Sunday evening.

Shoe at Raggard Road shooting

Six people were shot in the 700 block of Raggard Road in Louisville, Ky. on June 2, 2024.

Shonita Leonard, a nearby business owner, has noticed a change at the strip mall. She opened Schanisy Hall in December. It's another venue nearby Prestige by Luxe.

"Pretty much all the businesses have vacated the premises," Leonard said. "Lately for quite some time now it's out of control."

She said parties happen frequently in the parking lot, after guests leave Prestige by Luxe, an event venue that hosts weddings and special events.

"I don't know why they don't go into the space and stay in the space and have a good time. A lot of times they're just out in the parking lot. Some reason they like to hang out in the parking lot," Leonard said.

Leonard said the parking lot was full when she drove by earlier in the night. She was home when the shooting happened.

"It was a little nerve wracking to be awaken into that call," Leonard said.

Prestige By Luxe said a private party booked the venue on Saturday night.

"Prestige expresses sincere concern for the teens injured following a private party booking at our venue," the Luxe Collection released in a statement. "We learned of the incident from the client's family early this morning and are actively cooperating with authorities to provide any needed assistance. The safety and well-being of our guests are our top priorities, and we are learning details as the investigation unfolds. Most importantly, our prayers are with all impacted by the senseless gun violence that transpired."

Leonard believes adult supervision could help keep teens safe.

"It's very unfortunate that at this day and age, a lot of teenagers or young adults just don't have the same concept or love towards one another," Leonard said. "Somehow the smallest thing enlarges just to something very horrible."

LMPD says all six victims are expected to survive.
