LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The woman who was fatally shot in south Louisville early Monday morning has been identified.
According to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office, 29-year-old Renata Velijacic was shot and killed.
Louisville Metro Police said Monday that a Vine Grove, Kentucky, woman was arrested in connection to the shooting.
Velijacic was shot around 2 a.m. in the 8000 block of Glimmer Way, near New Cut Road. She died at the scene.
Stephanie Hill, 32, was arrested in connection to the shooting and charged with murder, robbery, tampering with physical evidence and possession of a controlled substance, according to police.
According to an arrest citation, Hill was identified as a suspect in the murder after getting statements from witnesses. She was found nine hours after the shooting at a Circle K gas station on New Cut Road.
When she was arrested, police said she had the victim's cellphone and admitted to officers that she left with the phone after the murder. Police said Hill also told them she had been sleeping in the woods near the scene to avoid being arrested and attempted to make phone calls to be picked up from the scene to leave the area, the arrest report says.
Police said Hill was found with suspected heroin when she was being taken into custody. She's being held at the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections and pleaded not guilty Tuesday morning.
LMPD's Homicide Unit is investigating the case.
