LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Bardstown man is facing charges in connection with an overdose death.

Phillip Wayne Young, 48, was indicted on Oct. 15 by a Nelson County grand jury for trafficking in controlled substances, fentanyl resulting in death, according to the Bardstown Police Department.

In the indictment, the state argued Young "transferred" fentanyl or a fentanyl derivative that resulted in the person's death.

"We are grateful for the hard work of the Bardstown Police Department and look forward to seeking justice for the family of the deceased," Commonwealth's Attorney Kyle Williamson said in a news release.

The Bardstown Police Department's Narcotics Unit led the investigation. Judge Charles Simms III will handle the case. A pretrial conference is scheduled for March 20, 2026.
