LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run in east Louisville Monday night.
Louisville Metro Police responded to the area near the intersection of Chamberlain Lane and Chamberlain Court around 9:45 p.m. on a report that a bicyclist had been hit, according to department spokesman Aaron Ellis. That's a little over two miles away from Ford's Kentucky Truck Plant.
Investigators believes an "unknown passenger vehicle" was headed down Chamberlain Lane, entered the intersection and hit a man on a bicycle.
Ellis said the impact caused the bicyclist to be knocked off. The driver did not stop after hitting him, continuing in an unknown direction.
The bicyclist was taken to University of Louisville Hospital where he died. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified him Thursday as 27-year-old Blair Sawyer.
LMPD's Traffic Unit is handling the investigation, and asks anyone who may have been in the area at the time or anyone who may have some kind of surveillance video of the incident to reach out.
Anyone with information in this or any other case is asked to call LMPD's anonymous Crime Tip Line at 502-574-LMPD (5673). Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the department's Crime Tip Portal by clicking here. Photos and videos can also be submitted through the online tip portal.
