LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Crestwood man was arrested after trying to strangle a Kentucky State Police trooper, according to court documents.
Jeromy Clark, 35, fled on foot after a KSP trooper tried to stop him for not wearing a seatbelt in Henry County around 6:30 p.m. Jan. 4. Police said Clark was told to stop several times after fleeing into the woods behind a Dollar General on Pendleton Road.
Clark was taken to the ground by the trooper but continued to resist arrest, according to court documents. Clark then wrapped his arms around the trooper's neck for a choke hold.
The trooper was able to break Clark's grip and wrapped himself around the suspect. Clark continued to hit the trooper. The trooper hit Clark several times in the face and head with a radio.
Despite being commanded to stop resisting, Clark continued to fight back. He stuck his hands inside the trooper's mouth.
Two firefighters arrived and helped the KSP trooper handcuff Clark. According to court documents, Clark had a red baggie in his pocket containing suspected meth. He also had an outstanding warrant.
Clark was charged with assault on a police officer, strangulation, fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest, criminal mischief, possession of controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, among other charges.
