Fatal shooting at Dixie Highway liquor store marks 7th homicide this month in Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police in Louisville are investigating the city's seventh fatal shooting in the past four days.

The latest victim was shot and killed Tuesday night at a liquor store on Dixie Highway near Shively and the Algonquin neighborhood. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified the young man killed as Corrion Williams, 20, of Louisville.

This week, community members have spoken out after these shootings, saying there has to be more respect for the lives of others.

"We all got one life, you know, and I mean, we can't play — not with violence, not with violence," said Brian, who did not want to share his last name.

Since the weekend, there have been seven people shot and killed in the city:

A double shooting on Noe Way in the Bon Air neighborhood killed 21-year-old Daryasia Wingo, who died at the scene. A man was taken to the hospital.
A double shooting on South 4th Street downtown early Saturday killed 24-year-old Larry Walker and injured a woman.
A shooting on Del Rio Place and Commander Drive in the Bon Air neighborhood on Saturday sent 57-year-old Aubrey Spry Jr. to the hospital. The coroner said he died two days later at the hospital.
A double shooting near Huston Quin Park in the Wilder Park neighborhood on Saturday night killed one man and injured another.
A shooting at Cafe 360 on Bardstown Road killed 21-year-old Theodore Brown on Sunday.
A shooting Tuesday afternoon on Shagbark Road off Cane Run Road killed a man. Police said he as found shot and killed in a car. His identity has not been released yet.

Laura Sanchez lives in the Bon Air neighborhood, close to where two deadly shootings happened over the weekend. She said she's not sure what the solution is, but the violence in Louisville must be addressed.

"It's not OK. It's not OK. All the violence that's going on. It just seems like there's a lot of discord and anger," Sanchez said.

LMPD's homicide unit continues to investigate these shootings, including the one at the liquor store, and police believe there could be witnesses. Anyone with information is asked to call the tip line at 502-574-LMPD (5673).

Wednesday morning, a man who said he was the owner of the store declined to speak on camera and he said he did not know the young man who lost his life.
