LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A former Kentucky Fraternal Order of Police official pleaded guilty Thursday to wire fraud.

Ryan Straw served as president of Metro Lodge 23 in Louisville and vice president and government affairs chair of the Kentucky Fraternal Order of Police between 2021 and 2024.

According to the United States Attorney's Office, Straw devised a scheme to defraud both FOP lodges and numerous people through “materially false pretenses, representations and promises.”

Officials said Straw defrauded at least 10 people out of $80,200. He also misappropriated $49,760 from Metro Lodge 32 through cash withdrawals he falsely claimed were intended to transfer funds to a different account.

Authorities said Straw charged $15,501.48 in personal expenses to the state FOP credit card and requested reimbursement for $41,562.97 in travel expenses that were never incurred.

The total amounted to $187,024.45, which Straw agreed to repay in restitution as part of the plea agreement.

Straw is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 11, 2026, and faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
