LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A former Marion County Schools teacher and high school band director charged with 34 counts of sexual abuse now faces additional charges in another Kentucky county.
Adam McRay, 34, was charged with four counts of sex abuse in Taylor County.
The new charges come as McRay remains jailed on 34 counts of first-degree sexual abuse in Marion County. Those charges involve two alleged victims.
McRay pleaded not guilty to the Marion County charges last week.
A judge on Wednesday also waived McRay's extradition to Indiana, where a warrant is out for his arrest in Floyd County. He faces two counts of sexual misconduct with a minor there in a separate case.
McRay is being held without bail because of his pending Kentucky cases.
The Kentucky cases are expected to move forward before McRay is sent to Indiana.
Kentucky State Police arrested McRay last week. The Marion County indictment alleges he sexually abused a victim younger than 16 over the course of about a year, beginning in August 2024.
McRay was a teacher with Marion County Schools and band director at Marion County High School when some of the incidents occurred. He previously worked as a band director in Mercer County.
His next court appearance in the Marion County case is scheduled for Oct. 22. A jury trial is scheduled for Dec. 21.
