LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The latest search warrants unsealed in the Jamey Noel investigation show he spent thousands of dollars on vacation and cigars using Utica Fire Department credit cards.
According to the court documents, the former Clark County sheriff racked up more than $300,000 in vacation club charges, timeshares and travel, and spent over $50,000 at a Jeffersonville cigar shop between 2018 and 2023.
Noel and his wife, Misty Noel, are also accused of taking out a $83,644.06 loan in September 2019, and made monthly payments over $1,000 using a fire department credit card, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Noel is set to appear in court next Tuesday, April 9, for a show cause hearing where he could be held in contempt of court for disobeying a condition of his bond.
He was ordered to appear after Indiana State Police found two handguns during a search of Noel's Jeffersonville home on March 13, which violated a court order issued late last year that prohibited him from having any firearms, aside from a shotgun "for personal protection" at his request.
In court next week, Noel is expected to explain why two pistols were found in his home, and why he shouldn't be held in contempt of the judge's order.
Noel was arrested in November 2023 on 15 felony charges related to fraud, misconduct, theft, ghost employment, and public corruption after a nearly yearlong investigation that is ongoing. Another 10 charges were filed against him in early February, including theft and tax evasion.
He has been out of jail after posting a $75,000 bond the day after his arrest, following his first court appearance. One of the conditions of his release prohibited him from having have any guns, aside from one shotgun for personal protection at his request.
Search warrants released last month indicated Noel charged almost $184,000 in high-end, specially-tailored clothing on a Utica Fire Department American Express Card. Noel previously served as the fire department's chief.
More documents revealed thousands of dollars more personal charges to a Synchrony Bank Sam's Club credit card and possible payments from Utica Township Volunteer Fire Department bank accounts.
The charges are among millions police accuse Noel, his wife, Misty Noel, and his daughter, Kasey Noel, charged to fire department credit cards and paid with fire department funds.
Misty Noel was charged with 10 felonies in the case. She was arrested in February and spent a weekend in the Scott County Detention Center before her first court appearance, and was released from jail after posting a $30,000 cash bond.Â
Kasey Noel was arrested earlier this month on nine felony charges, including five counts of theft and four counts of tax evasion. Search warrants in the corruption case of Jamey Noel indicate his daughter charged more than $100,000 to the Utica Volunteer Fire Department and New Chapel EMS.Â
According to the detailed charges, Kasey Noel made purchases for: clothing, tanning, cosmetics, manicure and pedicure services, food, tickets, trips, alcohol, utilities, vaping products, gas, Netflix and items from Amazon. The charges occurred between October 2018 and September 2023, totaling $108,660.59.Â
The Noels have each pleaded not guilty to the charges against them and are awaiting further court hearings later this year.
Investigators recently began looking into whether or not the former sheriff used taxpayer money to pay college tuition for two of his daughters totaling $38,000.Â
According to the probable cause affidavit, the $38,000 payment was made using a New Chapel EMS credit card.Â
To date, investigators have made public more than 50 search warrants and their findings since their probe began last summer, each outlining evidence seized or otherwise learned in the case.
