LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Investigators believe they've found missing government surplus property in the corruption case against former Clark County Sheriff Jamey Noel.

According to search warrant documents released Tuesday, the property includes 26 shipping containers full of surplus property found at a business in Deputy, Indiana.

Police also found a forklift and a small train engine once belonging to the Indiana Army Ammunition Plant. The business owner said Noel asked him to store the items during the last weeks of his term as sheriff in 2022.

Investigators are working to determine whether the surplus property belonged to the sheriff's department, the Utica Fire Department or was sold or given away illegally.

Noel served as Clark County Sheriff from 2015-23 and headed New Chapel Fire and EMS and the Utica Township Volunteer Fire Department. He's facing multiple felony charges including corruption, theft, official misconduct, ghost employment and tax evasion. He's pleaded not guilty to the charges against him and was released from jail the day after his arrest after posting a $75,000 bond. His next court hearing is scheduled for March 15.

Noel's wife, Misty Noel, was charged with 10 felonies in the case. She was arrested in February and spent a weekend in the Scott County Detention Center before her first court appearance. The defense asked the court for a lower bond, stating she wasn't a flight risk. After hearing from both sides, the judge set the bond and Misty Noel was released from jail after posting a $30,000 cash bond. She is scheduled to go to trial on July 30. The state will discuss whether or not it will attempt to join the husband and wife defendants together, resulting in just one trial for Misty and Jamey Noel.

To date, investigators have made public nearly 45 search warrants and their findings since their probe began last summer, each outlining evidence seized or otherwise learned in the case.
