LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An Anderson County man was arrested after police said he broke into his estranged wife's house and shot a man.

The Anderson County Sheriff's Department arrested David Caudill, 57, on Sept. 30. Police said Caudill violated an emergency protective order by showing up at his estranged wife's house in Lawrenceburg while she was sleeping.

According to court documents, Caudill went into his wife's home with a semi-automatic handgun. He then entered the bedroom where his wife and her male friend were asleep.

Police said Caudill shot the man in the neck and left leg. The man who was shot ran away from the home to get away from Caudill.

Caudill then took his wife's vehicle and crashed it on Tyrone Bridge on Versailles Road. Court documents show he refused to surrender to police by keeping the gun, but he eventually was taken into custody.

Police haven't released any updates on the condition of the man allegedly shot by Caudill.

Caudill was charged with assault, burglary and wanton endangerment, among other charges.
