LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 40-year-old woman wanted in a hit-and-run investigation was arrested Monday evening after she allegedly crashed into several cars in the parking lot of a local Kroger, almost hitting a police officer and shoppers.

A woman who witnessed the ordeal told WDRB she couldn't believe what she saw.

"The craziest thing I've ever seen," Kay Allgeier said.

The incident started around 5 p.m. Monday in the parking lot of the Kroger at the Cedar Springs Shopping Center on Bardstown Road in Fern Creek. That's where Louisville Metro Police officers spotted Charley Isaac — a person of interest in a recent hit-and-run case — parked in a red Ford F-150 pickup truck.

"I get out of the car and I hear Boom! Boom! And I look over and she's backing up into the SUV of the officer and to the cars that are sitting in that line," Allgeier recounted. "She then pulls forward, hits the two cars in front. I mean just boom, boom, back and forth. He yells 'Get out of the car, get out of the car,' and I'm like frozen. My kid's like 'What's going on?' I'm like 'You sit in there, you sit in there.'"

Police said an officer asked Isaac to get out of the truck, but she refused, and a backup officer was called to the scene.

As the backup officer arrived, the first officer tried to use a tool to break the driver's window. That's when police said Isaac "pressed the gas and started going full speed forward and backwards."

Police said she rammed several cars, including a marked LMPD SUV, and came close to hitting a shopper who jumped out of the way. She also narrowly missed an LMPD officer twice.

"She jumps over into where people are walking across and one lady had to like jump out of the way," Allgeier said. "It looks like she got up the road and you hear another bang. And I was like 'OK we gotta get out of here.'"

After using the truck to push a vehicle out of the way, police said Isaac drove recklessly toward the front of the store where shoppers were exiting before she crashed into two more vehicles, disabling the truck.

She then took off on foot toward Bardstown Road. Police and a passerby quickly caught up to her in front of a nearby animal hospital.

Officers said they smelled alcohol on Isaac's breath, and her eyes were red and bloodshot. She also refused to give officers her correct name. Once police confirmed her identity, they discovered her license was suspended and she was wanted on multiple warrants.

Officers were unable to conduct field sobriety tests because Isaac was "hysterical" at the scene, according to the arrest report, and was belligerent with corrections officers performing blood alcohol tests.

The judge set Charley Isaac's bond at $50,000 full cash

"Something's wrong," Allgeier said. "Something's wrong. Because who decides to back up with their F150 and damage like six to eight cars and people. You just, ugh, it's just crazy. It was."

Isaac now faces eight new charges, including: two counts of wanton endangerment, operating a vehicle under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident, two counts of fleeing or evading police, operating on a suspended license and giving police false information.

Her previous charges include assault, burglary, theft, menacing, tampering with physical evidence, tampering with a prisoner monitoring device, escape and criminal mischief.

A judge set Isaac's bond at $50,000 full cash during her court appearance Tuesday morning. A not guilty plea was entered on her behalf. She will be represented by a court appointed public defender.

Isaac is due back in court on Nov. 26.
