LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A motel in Shively is days away from being shut down after Louisville officials slapped it with numerous code violations.

The owner of Louisville Manor Motel at 4600 Dixie Highway has until Friday to vacate. The violations were issued after police were called to the troubled motel more than 200 times this year.

The order is a notice of criminal activity nuisance -- or in other words the police have been called there too many times.

On the day this story was published a person staying at the motel called police because they wanted a police escort to their vehicle out of fear.

Charles Mitchel, who lives right next door, said it is about time the city took action.

"It is really. It got bad this last year," he said.

"Like how?" asked WDRB’s Richard Essex.

"Prostitution, shootings and everything else," Mitchell responded. "Selling dope. You know, everything. The whole nine."

Shively Police Public Information officer Sgt. Jordan Brown said there have been numerous incidents at the property.

"We've had instances where someone was firing off a gun in the parking lot aimlessly," Brown said. "We've had many overdose deaths. There's also been vehicle thefts, large quantities of narcotics seized. It's pretty much anything that you can imagine."

According to the code enforcement notice from the city of Louisville, the owner has not complied with past orders. The owner now has until Friday, Sept. 20, to appeal the order or lose any rights to appeal in court.
