LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Metro Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect accused of stealing an ambulance.
LMPD released video Wednesday of the incident that occurred around 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28.
Sgt. Matt Sanders, a spokesperson for LMPD, said the St. Matthews ambulance was stolen from the bay at Jewish Hospital downtown while the crew was inside the hospital with a patient.
Officers found the ambulance abandoned on South Jackson Street, between Main and Market streets, about three minutes later.
The video of the incident was put together from several cameras, Sanders said.
Police said the suspect got into an ambulance at one point, most likely saw other people, left and walked toward Norton's ER to open a door to an ambulance before returning to steal the St. Matthews ambulance.
Anyone with information about this or any other case is urged to call LMPD's anonymous Crime Tip Line at (502) 574-LMPD (5673). Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the department's online crime tip portal by clicking here.
