LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- None of the three Louisville Metro Police officers involved in the fatal police shooting in Pleasure Ridge Park last week have any disciplinary history at the department.

Nicholas A. Pierce, 43, was holding a knife was shot by Third Division officers in the 4700 block of Crawford Avenue at 10:58 p.m. on Friday, May 10. Pierce was identified by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office on Monday.

LMPD Col. Steve Healey said "officers gave repeated commands for the suspect to drop the knife that they observed in his hand," but the suspect refused and kept coming toward officers with the knife.

Healey said officers used "less lethal methods" to apprehend the suspect, but those methods failed, having "limited effect" on the suspect.

Records released on Monday said the three LMPD officers involved were Christine Silk, Noah Sheets and Bailey Siegrist. Each discharged their weapons, but Col. Healey said Pierce kept coming toward officers with "a large knife still remaining in his hands."

After the officers fired their weapons, they went to try and perform life-saving measures on Pierce, but the suspect kept them away with the knife still in his hands, Healey said.

Pierce died on Sunday morning at 6:21 a.m.

Neither Silk or Sheets has any disciplinary or commendation history at LMPD. Siegrist has no disciplinary history and received a commendation in March 2023.

Silk was hired in Feb. 2023, while Sheets was hired in June 2023. Siegrist is the most tenured officer of the three involved in the shooting. He was hired in June 2022.

LMPD's Public Integrity Unit will be leading the investigation, and body camera footage will be released within 10 days, per LMPD policy.
