LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Louisville police said patrols at the Big Four Bridge and the Highlands have already made a difference.

During the first weekend of spring break in Louisville, police issued 21 citations and made two arrests in the Bardstown Road area.

A juvenile was also cited near the Big Four Bridge.

This comes after large groups began causing problems at Waterfront Park, the Big Four Bridge and other entertainment districts like the Highlands.

One weekend last month, Louisville Metro Police issued more than 60 citations on Bardstown Road and made 20 arrests.

Earlier this month, LMPD announced a Summer Task Force of 27 officers who will rotate monitoring the busiest areas.

At least 13 officers will be working seven days a week from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m.

LMPD said it has received positive feedback about the increased police presence.
