LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A woman accused of driving drunk and hitting an Louisville police officer's car last week has pleaded not guilty to several charges in court Monday.

Ashley Garvin, 36, is facing multiple charges, including wanton endangerment, assault of a police officer, criminal mischief, driving under the influence, possession of an open alcohol container in a motor vehicle, driving without insurance, and expired registration plates.

Garvin allegedly hit an LMPD officer's marked cruiser that was parked in the right lane of Interstate 265 north as two officers were helping a stranded motorist around 10 p.m. on Feb. 24. It happened near the Westport Road exit.

That's where two LMPD officers were helping a driver stranded on the northbound side of the interstate with their flashing lights on. While they were assisting the driver, one of the cruisers was rear-ended by a woman now identified as Garvin.

The force from the impact caused the LMPD cruiser to spin 180 degrees before it came to a stop in the left lane, facing oncoming traffic, according to the arrest report. Garvin was found slumped over the steering wheel of her vehicle, with blood on her face and empty beer bottles in the car. Because all of the doors were locked, an officer had to use a baton to free Garvin.

Garvin said she did not see the LMPD cruiser, even though the emergency lights were flashing. The officer was inside the cruiser when the crash happened.

The injured officer was able to get out under his own power and check Garvin before help arrived. Both the LMPD officer Garvin received medical care from EMS and Anchorage Middletown Fire officials.

Garvin and the officer were taken to UofL Health Hospital in downtown Louisville for treatment. The officer's injuries included a bruised inner lip, bruised left shin, and body pain.

Investigators obtained a warrant to draw Garvin's blood and found her BAC (blood alcohol content) was .205 -- more than two-and-a half times the legal limit. She was booked into Louisville Metro Corrections in the early morning hours of Feb. 25.

During Garvin's arraignment on March 3, the judge set a $15,000 full cash bond. Her next court appearance is scheduled for March 11.
