LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Monday marks 149 years since the mysterious "Kentucky Meat Shower."

On March, 1876, chunks of meat began falling from the sky in Bath County in eastern Kentucky. Residents gathered a lot of the meat and filled a horse cart with it and people in the area ate it. But a piece of the meat that fell from the sky was saved and has been under the care of Transylvania University in Lexington.

DNA testing of the meat has been inconclusive. Theories on the meat shower's origin have ranged from winds picking up small fish and frogs to vultures regurgitating meals.
