LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville police arrested a man Sunday night after he assaulted a police officer at a Walmart on Dixie Highway.

According to an arrest report, Kurtis Smith, 22, was shoplifting when he was stopped by a Lyndon Police officer and two Walmart security guards.

Smith hit the officer's arm when she tried to handcuff him, then sprayed spray paint into her eyes and mouth, and hit her several times in the head and face.

He was later arrested by a responding LMPD officer after he fled the scene across Dixie Highway, the citation said.

Smith is facing charges of assault of a police officer, wanton endangerment of a police officer, fleeing police, and robbery. He pleaded not guilty in court Monday, and a judge set a $50,000 bond.
