LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A gang member was arrested and charged with attempted murder in southern Indiana Sunday morning, according to police.
Clarksville Police Department said officers responded Saturday night around 10 p.m. to the area of Blackiston Mill Road and Marlowe Drive to a "confrontation that escalated into a serious event" before police arrived. Police later said it was a targeted attack.
Police said a person was taken to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.Â
The suspect is a member of the MS-13 gang. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, MS-13, also known as Mara Salvatrucha 13, is a well-organized gang heavily involved in lucrative illegal enterprises, being notorious for its use of violence to achieve its objectives.
Police believe it was an isolated incident.
