LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man was arrested Wednesday afternoon in connection to a December shooting in Louisville's California neighborhood that left two men dead and three more injured.
Abrahem Balata, 39, was identified to police by one of the surviving victims, according to the arrest citation.
Louisville Metro Police officers responded to the shooting in the 2200 block of Garland Avenue, near Dr. W. J. Hodge Street, around 7:23 p.m. Dec. 21, 2024.
When they arrived, they located five men who had been shot. Two of the men were pronounced dead at the scene, while the other three were taken to University Hospital in serious but stable condition.
According to the citation, Balata entered the detached garage at the house and shot all five victims "with the intent to cause death."
The surviving victims received serious injuries from the shooting, the citation said.
Balata is being charged with murder, assault, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. He is due in court at 9 a.m. Thursday morning.
