LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A La Grange man has been arrested and charged in the death of a 75-year-old woman.

Jason Cornett, 54, is charged with vehicular homicide after police said he was driving drunk in November, causing a crash that killed Margaret E. Preble, of La Grange.

Oldham County Police police said Cornett was arrested during a traffic stop Wednesday afternoon.

Police said on Nov. 11, Preble's body was found in the grass near US 42 between KY 53 and Smith Lane. Police said she Cornett hit her with his car and then took off.

Cornett was previously arrested on Nov. 22 and charged with leaving the scene of an accident and tampering with physical evidence, but now police said they have more evidence showing Cornett was driving drunk when he hit Preble. He had posted a $25,000 bond on Nov. 22 for those charges and is expected to be back in court on Jan. 29.

Another person, Zoe Wolfe, 23, was also arrested on Nov. 22 and charged with tampering with physical evidence allegedly for driving Cornett's car to a repair shop.

Cornett is currently being held in the Oldham County Jail on a $500,000 all-cash bond.
