LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 34-year-old man was arrested after a shooting in Old Louisville left another man in the hospital Tuesday evening.
According to Sgt. Matt Sanders, a spokesperson for Louisville Metro Police, officers responded to the 1300 block of S. Floyd Street just after 9:30 p.m. on a reported shooting.
Police found a man shot in the face. He was taken to UofL Hospital and is expected to survive, police said.
Police arrested John Gorman on scene and charged him with first-degree assault and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
According to his arrest citation, Gorman told police that he was playing with a gun, that he thought was unloaded at the time, when he pointed it at the man's face when it went off.
Gorman also told police that he was a felon out of Texas and Kentucky.
He is expected in court Thursday morning at 9 a.m.
