Northern Kentucky woman arrested after dismembered body found in backyard

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Kentucky woman is behind bars after her mother's dismembered body was found in the backyard of a home.

A little after noon Wednesday, Kentucky State Police responded to reports of a woman's body found at a home on Brierly Ridge Road in Mount Olivet, in Robertson County. That's about an hour south of Cincinnati.

According to an arrest citation for 32-year-old Torilena May Fields, two men who were working on a building on the property found the body of Trudy Fields in the backyard of the home and called police.

Once on scene, police found the dismembered body lying in the grass behind the house, not far from a blood-stained mattress that was folded in half. When police unfolded the mattress, multiple body parts and organs were found.

Police said the head, arms and legs were removed from the body, and the torso and spine were severed in half. Troopers also found blood on the back porch, a blood-stained wooden stick and another blood-stained mattress, according to the citation.

Police also observed "drag marks in the grass leading from the residence to the body."

Fields was found inside the residence but would not come to the door. Police obtained a search warrant, and KSP's Special Response Team was deployed. The SRT used CS gas, which is similar to tear gas, multiple times and used a robot to converse with her.

Police eventually removed Fields from the residence around 11 p.m. without further incident. Police said Fields had blood on her face, hands and clothing when she was arrested.

When troopers went into the home, they found a disturbing scene in the kitchen. A stainless-steel pot was found in the oven with body parts and organs found inside. Police said it appeared the body parts and organs had been cooked in the oven, and the pot was "still warm to the touch."

Investigators said their work is just beginning on this case.

"We have a death investigation at this time right now. We're in the infant stages of that investigation," KSP Trooper David Jones said.

Fields is charged with obstructing governmental operations, tampering with physical evidence and abuse of a corpse. She is being held in the Bourbon County Jail.

Court records show Fields may have had drugs in her system. She's scheduled to make her first court appearance for an arraignment on Monday, Oct. 14.

KSP said more charges could be filed as the investigation unfolds.
