LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- St. Matthews Police said the overdose death of a 13-year-old girl prompted a new investigation into a man connected to the police raid that killed Breonna Taylor.

Jamarcus Glover, 33, was arrested over the weekend after police conducted a search warrant on a home on Taylor Boulevard and an apartment in St. Matthews. Glover and at least two others are accused of trafficking narcotics at the home on Taylor Boulevard. According to a citation, Glover is accused of using "juveniles under the age of 18 to transport and sell heroin, fentanyl and other illegal drugs."

St. Matthews Police said Monday that the death of the teenager in April 2023 is what played a part launching the investigation that landed Glover behind bars.

"In April of this year, St. Matthews Police responded to the 5800 block of Prince William Street on a 13-year-old female that was in full cardiac arrest," St. Matthews Police Maj. Eddie Jones said Monday. "The medical examiner's office determined that the cause of her death was overdose by fentanyl. Our investigators learned early on that Jamarcus Glover was one of the residents in this apartment. They also learned of the secondary address that was on Taylor Boulevard. So, very early on, he became the focus of our investigation."

Officers have been working the case for months. Jones said the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration has also assisted. On Saturday, the St. Matthews SWAT Team searched the apartment where the teen overdosed and a home on Taylor Boulevard.

"Mr. Glover and several individuals that were all located at the Taylor Boulevard address were arrested and charged with trafficking narcotics," Jones said.

Jones said weapons and drugs were found at both the homes. The arrests of Glover and two other adults were at the residence on Taylor Boulevard. Jones also said three teenagers there were charged.

"We handled like this we would every other investigation," Jones said.

Glover is charged with engaging in organized crime, unlawful transaction with a minor and being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun. Jones said additional charges could be possible.

"We're still continuing our investigation," he said. "We're still processing evidence that we took from the search warrants we did. At this point, it's going to be communication with the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office and trying to lay out our case to try to finish this to its conclusion."

Glover is out of jail on a $20,000 bond. He is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday.
