LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A southern Indiana woman is facing several charges after she was arrested at her home Tuesday following allegations that she stole thousands of dollars from the KFC where she was employed.

The Seymour Police Department announced the arrest of 40-year-old Aimee J. Brooks on its Facebook page.

Seymour police began investigating Brooks after receiving a report from KFC management that Brooks, who worked as a manager, had been taking business money from the Seymour location. Investigators were told the thefts had been ongoing for about six months, and more than $7,000 was unaccounted for. Management believed Brooks was documenting money being placed in a safe, but the "numbers were not matching up."

During a visit to Brooks' residence in Seymour, investigators "noticed the odor of marijuana coming the location." They were given permission to search the residence, where they found marijuana, drug paraphernalia and equipment for a marijuana grow operation.

Police said Brooks was interviewed and admitted to taking money from the business. She was arrested and taken to the Jackson County Jail.

Brooks is now facing preliminary charges of theft, neglect of a dependent, maintaining a common nuisance and possession of paraphernalia.
