LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A jury has been seated in the murder trial of a Charlestown, Indiana, man accused of killing his wife in their home with their children inside. Investigators said he then texted photos of the crime scene to the woman's family.

Jury selection for Taylor Meyer's trial got underway Jan. 20, after at least two delays. Court records indicate Clark Circuit Judge Nicholas A. Karaffa, scheduled opening statement for Wednesday morning.

Meyer is charged with one count of murder after he allegedly killed his wife on Valentine's Day in 2025. Police arrested Meyer in the late evening hours of Feb. 14 at a home the couple shared in the 6600 block of Westwood Drive. Court documents said officers went to the home after getting a call from a friend of the victim who said she was in danger.

The caller told dispatchers he had gotten a call from the victim's phone and heard her screaming for help, so he drove to the home and arrived about the same time as police. While speaking with officers at the scene, he received a picture sent from the victim's phone showing the victim unconscious on the floor. Meyer also sent pictures to the victim's family on a group text, according to court documents.

Meyer was taken into custody when he opened the garage door as responding officers were trying to get inside. Investigators then found Meyer's 36-year-old wife dead inside the home. She had been beaten and stabbed dozens of times, according to court documents.

During questioning, Meyer told investigators he had planned a special Valentine's evening with his wife, but became upset when she "seemed distant" and unappreciative. He told police he was also upset because he had received a picture of his wife in January "holding hands" with another man -- a co-worker of the victim -- at a casino, which had put a strain on his marriage.

The couple's three young children were inside the home when she was killed, but they were unharmed.

Meyer has been in the Clark County jail with no bond since his arrest.
