LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A woman was taken to the hospital after shots were fired near Underground Station in New Albany on Tuesday morning, according to police.

Officers with the New Albany Police Department responded to a report of shots fired on Bank Street near Underground Station, a shopping and dining courtyard located at 37 Bank St., which is near West Main and Pearl streets.

According to police, shots were fired from a car parked on Bank Street. Witnesses told police a small black SUV left the scene after the gunshots. Police said the vehicle's driver's side rear window was shot out.

Police said a woman sitting on a waiting bench inside a nearby barbershop was injured during the incident. She was taken to Baptist Health Floyd with injuries to her foot that aren't considered life-threatening, according to police.

Police said the nature of her injuries haven't been determined yet.

Amanda McMonigle owns The Whimsical Cookie, which is the business right next door to the barbershop. She says she's not used to this type of crime happening in the area.

"Unfortunately, there's always going to be these random things that happen and so I think we're all ready to welcome customers and have our customers back in," says McMonigle.

No suspects have been identified and there haven't been any arrests in the incident.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the New Albany Police Department at 812-944-6411. Police said the people in the black SUV involved in the incident should be considered armed and dangerous.
