LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Five students at an elementary school in Louisville ate THC gummies Wednesday.
Brandi Carney, principal of Wellington Elementary School, sent an email to parents saying that five students in a classroom ate gummies containing THC. Carney said the students didn't appear to be phased, but EMS was called to check on the students. The school nurse also checked on the students.
The students didn't required any additional medical attention, according to Carney. The parents and guardians of the students were called and picked up the children from the school at 4800 Kaufman Lane.Â
Carney said one student brought a bag of gummies to school and shared it with four other classmates.Â
"The student brought the bag from home believing they were candy," Carney said in an email to parents. "The packaging has the name 'LiiTT Exotics' on it and could easily be mistaken for a bag of candy.
"I hope this unfortunate incident results in a lesson learned for our students as well as our families. Please be careful with what your children have access to in your home."
